Human Resources Director

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Director will promote the mission of Rock of Ages in developing and implementing HR strategies and practices to best align with business operations. The HR Director reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer and plays an important role in the community by building positive relationships with staff and administration. They will perform in a professional and efficient manner all human resources functions including recruitment, payroll, compensation/benefits, and employee relations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Utilize and perform all functions of the Paycom payroll system, including processing bi-monthly payroll.
  2. Implement and manage employee compensation and benefits program.
  3. Manage recruitment, staffing and hiring practices; perform onboarding of all new employees.
  4. Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable labor laws.
  5. Contribute to operational decisions which affect Human Resources.
  6. Build and implement good employee relations practices. Mediate interpersonal issues and staff complaints.
  7. Assist in staff development and retainment initiatives.
  8. Manage performance evaluations; investigate performance-related issues and pursue grievance resolution.
  9. Administrate PTO and leave of absence policies.
  10. Communicate confidential and sensitive information to leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with supervisors and administrators on employee relations issues.
  2. Maintain employment records and personnel files; monitor employee hire status and eligibility.
  3. Attend weekly administration meetings and collaborate with executive team and department administrators.
  4. Advise and educate employees on company policies and procedures.
  5. Handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; work independently; practice independent judgment.
  6. Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of two years experience in human resources administration
  2. Preferred degree in human resources, business administration or a human services related field
  3. Competency in a wide range of human resources functions
  4. High emotional intelligence with leadership qualities for problem solving, conflict resolution, and promoting healthy work habits
  5. Knowledge of all applicable laws, statues, and regulations related to employment practices, including FLMA, Oregon FMLA, Paid Leave Oregon, worker’s compensation, unemployment, etc.
  6. Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  7. Adept at Microsoft Office applications and general office practices such as answering phones, filing, etc.
  8. Valid Oregon driver’s license
  9. Must pass criminal background check

 

Compensation:

Hourly rate $30-35 DOE; 40-hour work week. Full benefit package including retirement plan.
